THE WAIT IS OVER!!!!!

Finally! I feel like I've been waiting for August 20th forever! But it's finally here! My most favorite show ever is back!! I can't even begin to tell you how much I've missed Heidi and Tim and all their ridiculously crazy challenges. I'm sorry, but Bravo's replacement "The Fashion Show" just didn't do it for me. Same concept, crappier challenges and weak designers. Just goes to show that you can never replace an original. Bravo should have paid up. Long live Timm and Heidi. Long live Project Runway!

And to make this season even more spectacular than ever is a new show to follw PR, called Models of the Runway. I'm being a little cautious in my excitement for this show, cause in the past the models they've had on PR haven't exactly been the most interesting people ever. But maybe this season they got some great girls. It's like Tyra's Top Model meets Project Runway. I am hoping Awesomeness will ensue. But remember friends, it's no longer on Bravo, you will have to go to Lifetime for this little slice of heaven. Set your Tivos now.

Happy Project-Runway-Is-Back-Day Everyone!!!

Colony : Discovery Channel

Colony : Discovery Channel

Posted using ShareThis

So, as I've told you before, hubs has some strange fascination with survival television. I used to rationalize this interest by saying that he was you know, just kinda like looking out for the family. In case we are ever stranded in the middle of the Sahara Desert or something. Or perhaps like a lazy mans provident living. Learn how to live off the land. That sort of thing. In fact, I'm sure if we ever run into hard times and have no food, Hubs could cook us up a delicious meal of grass and leaves. And then I will feel silly about ever joking in the least bit about this fascination. But I'm starting to think this Discovery channel craziness is getting a we bit out of control. I mean, first it was Man Vs. Wild, then it was Survivorman, then Men Vs. Wild, then Deadliest Catch (um yeah.) but now it's this show.

It's another Discovery Channel delight called The Colony. It's another survival reality show. Only this time, a bunch of people bunk up in an old warehouse, become convinced that world has come to an end, and they are the last people left on earth. Really, even as they are giving interviews to the camera men they are scared and worried about their survival. What? See that camera? You are on TV. Not in any danger of dying. It makes no sense. Somehow they become so stupid, I mean psychologically convinced of this fact that they actually make some pretty interesting TV. At first I thought, oh great. Another Discovery Channel gem to take up space on my DVR. And well, after watching about 4 full episodes, I can honestly say it's officially the dumbest show ever. Although I do wish I was as brilliant as the professor who can make the most incredible things out of a carburetor, hanger and a piece of gum. Seriously. Where did they get this guy?

SUMMER PRODUCT LOVE

Hey bloggers. Sorry it's been so long. Things have been extra crazy around here, as tends to happen when Summer is in full swing. We've been out and about and enjoying ourselves immensely. But because of this, the blog has been lacking. Sorry about that folks. Hopefully things will slow down a bit come September.

Well, today I thought I'd go ahead and do a little showcase of food products I have been thoroughly enjoying as of late. I love to hear about products via blogs that people enjoy. I find that I like products people recommend so much more than if I just pick my own. Weird. Yes, I know.

Here goes nothing.

Okay, first off is this little lovely bottle of salad dressing. Ever since my whole salt/sodium fiasco that is my life took over, I've been scouring the shelves at the grocery store looking for products that taste good without all the salt. And believe you me, its one difficult task. Sure you can find full-fat dressings that are lower in salt but you have to be willing to down 30 plus grams of fat in TWO?! tablespoons. Um, no thank you. But then I came across this little bottle, and I have been enjoying it immensely ever since. It is Bernsteins Light Fantastic Cheese Fantastico. In a normal 2 Tb it has only 25 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and get this, only 370 mg of sodium!! Incredible. I've seen dressing with close to 1200 mg so this is great. It tastes amazing too. Kinda like the Olive Garden salad dressing but without all the guilt. Yay for bernesteins!

Moving right along. I tried, and tried to find a picture on the web of my next item, but no luck. Oh well. So, a while back my hubby took me out for Sushi. Not really a fan. I enjoy a good miso, and a California roll, but other than that, I'll pass. See, I rather like things cooked. Raw mostly equals squishy. Yucko. But we went to this restaurant called Tsunami. And he knows how I LOVE spicy food so he suggested the ribs. Ribs?! At a sushi place? That can't be good. But dear friends, it is. Soooooo good. And I have them every time I go. Miso, edamame, and ribs. Almost heavenly. The sauce they put on those ribs is nothing short of royalty. But then one day Hubs came home with a bottle of the enlightened sauce (jalapeno teriyaki sauce) they douse on the ribs. And well, we've been dousing it on everything from Salmon (delightful!!) to chicken even veggies. And let me tell you. It is fan-double-tastic. I'm pretty certain I could drink this straight from the bottle, but well, that's just not civilized.

My next product has been a standby for quite some time. I will freely admit that I love a good soda. And yes, I am aware of the damage it is doing to my bones and teeth, and honestly, I DON'T CARE. So, yeah. Get over it. But a while back I did try to switch over from the full sugar sodas to the diet. And lets just say I haven't been all that impressed. Until I tried the diet Sunkist. And I swear, I can't tell the difference. Yes friends, it's that good. Try it out for yourself. DIET SUNKIST = PARTY IN YOUR MOUTH.

My next food item I have been enjoying almost nightly since it was introduced to me by my good friend Stacie S. last Thursday while out with the girls. The location? A hole in the wall gas station in Zion on 17th and 17th called Stop n' Go. The food item? THE MOST DELICIOUS FAT FREE FRO YO EVER. And I have to admit, I'm kinda a snob about my fro yo. I haven't cheated on Maverick in a while. Sure, I did once on a friends recommendation to try Red Mango. Tried it. Loved it. The green tea flavor that is. But now, the green tea flavor has been discontinued because I'm sure people think that if you eat green tea ice cream apparently it is like buying a one way ticket to hell. And well, I was enjoying hell. Until they got rid of it. Too many saints headed over to the dark side I guess. So then I went back to Maverick. But ever since I've had the Stop n' Go, Fro Yo, I haven't' been back. And the last two times I went to Stop N' Go I had the Fat Free Sugar Free Frozen Yogurt. And bloggers, this was delightful. Absolutely so much that I can't stop going. I might need a Stop n' Go intervention.

So, these are my enjoyments as of late. It's the simple things people. Really.

HAGS!

TODAY. COULD IT GET ANY WORSE?

Have I ever told you that Butch Cassidy (a.k.a Robert LeRoy Parker) is one of my ancestors?

So, today, one of the things to get done on my crazy To Do list was go to the grocery store. Seems harmless enough, right? And well, usually it is. Usually it is a very calm, almost peaceful thing I get to do each week. How can this possibly be with two more-hyper-than-normal-children?

Three words.

Smiths. Marketplace. Playland.

This is my saving grace. Really. I drop the kids off to play and then I get to grocery shop in peace. And yes, I know what you are probably all thinking, *just think of all the germs!!* Well, honestly, I used to be a germ-a-phobe, but now, if someone is willing to watch my kids for free while I grocery shop? Heck, I send them in, say a quick prayer for the germs to stay away, and sanitize like hell when I'm done.

And well, it works. Cause before? They'd be whining, and crying and having tantrums the entire store for lots of random grocery-store crap that we, rather nobody, needs.

So, today, when I went to the Smiths like any other perfectly good Tuesday, and walked the kids over to the playland, I pretty much had a mild heart attack when I saw the CLOSED sign sitting on the playland check-in desk. CLOSED? CLOSED? Why? For what? It's not like I was there at 6 a.m., or anything. Just your normal 2 p.m. afternoon shopping.

So then, my options. Drag the kids all the way back out of the store, and have to find another time to come by myself, or WORSE, drag them back with me tomorrow? Uggg. Neither choice was stellar. So, I went against everything I stand for, and decided to do a quick run through with the kids in tow and pray for the best.

Well, apparently I didn't pray hard enough, or to the right Grocery store God, because let me just tell you, IT DIDN'T GO WELL.

The first meltdown happened before we even actually started the shopping. I went to grab a shopping cart, but since I had Thing 2 with me, I couldn't just get a "normal" cart, no I had to get the nasty-should-be-illegal-due-to-the-massive-amounts-of-virus-germs-on-them car shopping carts. Ewww. Just ewww. Luckily Smiths is so kind as to provide you with a Clorox wet wipe, so I grabbed ten, and went to town. Sanitized the shiz out of those steering wheels, doors, seats, pretty much anything that my kids could or would or even might touch.

After that was done, we began, but not before the giant (and I mean giant) dinosaur jawbreakers caught Thing 1's eye. He immediately started listing all the reasons he just NEEDED TO HAVE that dinosaur jawbreaker or his life was sure to be miserable. (This was the first of many things he saw that he needed. The next item in the cereal box aisle right at kid height was a potato gun. Seriously. Cause that's just the item that belongs in the cereal box aisle.)

We start going, finally, and what do you know, the one car shopping cart wheel is squeaking so loudly I literally am kinda embarrassed. Like it's my fault the wheel has never been greased. As if, somehow I should feel shame about the grocery cart wheel. But don't worry, my shame is quickly replaced by the migraine that is beginning to form from the high pitched squeak. Ugg.

I think I am doing awesome. Shopping, pretty much as fast as humanly possible. Grab this, toss it in, grab that, keep going. See, the trick with these germ carts, I mean car shopping carts, is to never really stop. Stopping means inviting the little buggers to get out of the cart. And then you have to get them back in. And then that is impossible, and then you start to go crazy. So, even when I need to grab something I'm still pushing. Which makes things a little difficult, but in the end, easier then coaxing them back in said germ cart.

Somewhere around aisle 6 Thing 2 decides that it would be a fantastic idea to lean his head out the car door while I push him around. I ask him to sit up, he just tells me he enjoys having the wind in his hair. What the? Whatever. This soon leads to his little sister needing to hang her head out her window. Now, not only is my cart twice as long as the average cart (which makes steering almost comical), but also twice as wide. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm trying with all my might to not hit any other cart, or aisle, or stand alone food pyramid, without stopping. Cause remember, stopping means trouble folks.

So, finally, I've got all the things we can't live without. And I'm headed for the checkout stand. This is where I am forced to stop. And what do you think happens? Thing 1 takes this as his embossed invitation to run wild. And his sister follows. Monkey see, monkey do. Right? Here they come, running back, only Thing 1 has a mischievous look about his face. I chalk this up to the fact that he got away. They both get back in, I pay, and we load up all the groceries in the car. I've got both kids strapped in, and I'm thinking to myself. Well, that coulda been a lot worse. And I turn around to back out of the parking spot, and notice, hmmm, how peculiar. Both of my kids are chewing gum. Chewing Gum!

Well, things just got a lot worse.

Me: "Where did you get that gum?"
Him: "What gum?"
Me: That gum you are chewing.
Him: Evil, evil comic book laugh.
Me: Thing 1!!! Only I used his real name, with my angry eyes.
Him: Still laughing
Me: Where did you get that gum?
Him: From the store.
Me: What do you mean? (I am of course thinking the worst? Was it on the floor? The germ infested shopping cart? THE GROUND?!!?)
Him: No, from the shelf at the store.
Me: (Grunting in pure frustration. )

Next thing I know, I am back to unbuckling both children, making Thing 1 turn over his stolen Orbit melon mint pack of gum. March both children back into Smiths. Go to customer service, make him turn over the package of gum. Make him apologize. And I am the winner of a seventy one cent package of gum minus two sticks. Incredible.

Ohh that child! My son the thief. The four-year-old thief. I can't believe it.

But I'm pretty sure he won't be doing that again, thanks to my super-awesome kids who shoplift speech. See, the first time. They get off easy. A little apology. Pay for the gum themselves. Get their DS taken away for the day. This type of thing. But the 2nd time?

Jail.

And really, who can I blame for this? Certainly it wasn't something I taught him. And I doubt I can get away with blaming his father. The only thing I can come up with is that it's in his blood. The same blood that ran through Butch's veins is running through Thing 1's. Man I'm in for it.

Hope your day is going better than mine!

WHO WEARS SHORT SHORTS?

ED WEARS SHORT SHORTS!!!

Decided to bring my facebook discussion over to blogger.

For those of you who for some crazy reason weren't able to catch The Bachelorette this week, I looked, and looked, everywhere for a still of Ed in his little green shorts, but couldn't find one. So, a you tube video will have to do. But don't worry, you don't have to watch for long. His little John Stockton inspired lovelies show up within the first 15 seconds.

And I have to know. Do we like the Ed's version of fashion-forward swimwear, or is it just a bit too much white man thigh?

Alls I know, is if those trunks don't have a little mesh undie built in, so help us all. I was afraid the whole episode a little of Ed's junk was gonna slip right on out of his trunks if ya know what I mean. So, let your voice be heard. Comments are now open.

Now, I don't' want to sway your opinion, but on a side note, um, what is going on? I really liked Reid. Like alot. And saw Jills and Reid all old and wrinkled and happy together forever. But instead she goes with Ed & his whack fashion sense. Did she ever think that maybe the reason they weren't in the "mood" was because of his shorts? I'm telling you. Short-short green swim trunks aren't all that seksy if ya catch my drift.

BRILLS

Saw this on my friend Aimee's blog, and think it is absolutely brilliant. As soon as this is available in my area, I'm getting it for sure. This is such a great idea, especially for the new business. Thanks Aim, for the great tip! And you are absolutely right, just another reason why Google is King!

LOVE YOU GRANDPA!

Ottis M. Plant Colonel, U.S. Army Ottis was a kind and gentle man whose life personified impeccable integrity, wisdom, perseverance, and strength of character. He was born on August 16, 1918, in Richmond, Utah, to Henry Thomas Plant and Edith Louisea Webb. Ottis was a graduate of Utah State University, a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, and a cadet in the Army ROTC program. Originally planning a career in dental medicine, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and, with the breakout of World War II, placed on active duty in 1940. While stationed in the Territory of Alaska, Ottis met and fell in love with a beautiful woman named Beverly Schmidt from St. Louis, Mo. She worked as an executive secretary, teletype operator, and multiplex operator for the Alaska Communication System, Signal Corp, U.S. Army, in Anchorage. They were married on June 17, 1944, in El Paso, Texas, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. During his 29 years of military service, he, Beverly, and his mother-in-law, Clara, whom he loved dearly, moved 21 times. Preceded in death by Beverly and Clara, Ottis rejoined them on July 9, 2009. Ottis served in numerous prestigious command and leadership assignments while serving as a career Army Officer. Highlights of his military service with the Defense Intelligence Agency include assignments as Chief, Intelligence Planning Group, J2, Joint Chiefs of Staff; Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence and Collection of Intelligence, G2, Army General Staff; and Chief, Training and Education (Intelligence), G2, Army General Staff. Ottis also served as Chief Instructor, Command and Leadership Department, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas. Notwithstanding the aforementioned, Ottis regarded his most meaningful assignment as Commander of an Air Defense Battalion in South Korea for thirteen months while assigned to the 8th U.S. Army. His battalion was deployed on mountaintops in battery sized units with surveillance search radar and hawk antiaircraft missiles overlooking North Korea with the mission to monitor and counter Soviet aircraft flown by Chinese and North Korean pilots. While stationed in Korea, Ottis served as President of the first LDS District in South Korea. It was here that he met President Gordon B. Hinckley during a Sunday worship service in Seoul. In President Hinckley's book, Go Forward with Faith, he describes the testimony meeting on page 257 as follows: "It was one of the most moving experiences of my life to listen to them. Here were strong military men who wept as they thanked the Lord for the Gospel, for their families, and one another..And so it went for the better part of three hours to become an unforgettable spiritual experience." Ottis concluded his military career as the Professor of Military Science at the University of Utah. He and his family resided in Quarters 13A, Officer's Circle, on historic Fort Douglas. Ottis was directly responsible for obtaining the "Thunder Ute" cannon that is fired after Utah touchdowns. He was also instrumental in developing the Army ROTC programs at Brigham Young University and the Weber State University. Ottis voluntarily served the University of Utah faculty as an adjunct professor in the Department of Geography. His numerous awards and decorations include the Joint Services Commendation Medal and the Legion of Merit. After retirement, Ottis was selected to become the President and General Manager of National Distribution Systems (NDS) at Freeport Center, Clearfield, Utah. He developed this company into one of the largest and most efficient storage and distribution facilities in the United States. Nominated by his executive secretary, Ottis was recognized as "Boss of the Year" in 1971 by the National Secretarial Association for his leadership example, achievements, and personal care of employees. After his second retirement, Ottis worked as a leadership and management consultant and lecturer. He was a requested speaker and addressed such diverse organizations as a Scientific Seminar for the Department of Agriculture, the Geographer's Association, and the National Association of Shippers Advisory Board. Ottis once again answered the call of duty, this time for the State of Utah, when Governor Cal Rampton asked him to serve as Chairman of the State Liquor Control Commission in 1978. Ottis was a proud and serving member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his military and civilian career. His callings while in the military included District President, Stake High Counsel, and Independent Branch President. After military retirement,, Ottis served as a Host and Guide on Temple Square for ten years. He and his wife, Beverly, served two church leadership missions in the Temple View Stake, 4th Ward, and Liberty Stake, 8th Ward. They also served as Temple Workers in the Salt Lake City Temple. When Ottis wasn't serving his Church, his Country, or his State, he was golfing. He learned to golf as a left handed player while in the military service because "playing right-handed made the game too easy!" One of Ottis' proudest moments occurred on November 12, 2005, at the Utah vs. New Mexico Football game, when he was recognized by the University of Utah as the Blue Cross Blue Shield "Super Fan" for his contributions to the university and for being the father of three sons who all received their undergraduate degrees from Utah. Go Utes! Ottis is survived by his sons, COL (Ret) Thomas O. Plant (Eleanor), Randall A. Plant (Paula), and Gary Lee Plant (Connie), nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff, nurses, and CNAs at Alta Ridge Assisted Living in Sandy and 1st Choice Hospice for the love and compassionate care they provided Ottis during the last six months of his life. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 11:30 am at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North "N" Street, SLC, UT. Family and friends may call Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, SLC. UT prior to services. Please send condolences to the family at www.larkinmortuary.com

FOUND IT!

Pure Brilliance, right?

KILLED IT!

Okay, so I've been scouring the web for some video of these two killing their Wade Robson routine from last night's SYTYCD, but nothing is up yet. As soon as I find it, I will post it.
I just absolutely love Wade Robson's routines. They are so unique, and clever, and have fabulous choreography. They are 100% entertaining, and leave you always wanting more. He is so quirky, and creative. And every routine he puts out is amazing. But the one he rocked last night was insane! This was the first time this season I've rewound my DVR to watch a routine. I loved it that much! An to be honest, I'm not much of a Janette or a Brandon fan. I much prefer Kayla and Kupono, (and I love Mia too and her choreography) but I just thought these two killed it last night. First their fox trot, which was off the hook, and then their Wade Robson routine! They just hit every single beat. Made me want to dance around like a thief ;) I was so impressed.
Sometimes I feel like Mia gets alot of buzz for her routines, which she should since they are amazing, but in my opinion Wade just goes that extra mile. His routines are totally different, yet they tell a story and make you think. And frankly, I like that. I wish he was more of a regular on the show and definitely should judge an ep. He would be an amazing critique. I just think he brings such a unique perspective that SYTYCD needs.
So enough hubbub. When the video is up, I will post it here for you so you can feast your eyes on a little bit of awesomeness this Thursday. Stay tuned.

DID HE, OR DIDN'T HE?

Well, I tried to stay away. Really I did. No, not from watching the Bachelorette silly, but from blogging about the Bachelorette.

But I just can't go on about my life and not discuss this with you all. Because this is important. Really. Cause I know as much as you don't want to admit it, you're watching it too. And loving every single trashy minute.

So, guys, what's our opinion. Did he have a girlfriend or didn't he?

Was Jake just totally coming back to screw things up for Wes? Or was there an actual girlfriend? And if so, just for the record, I hope to high heaven there isn't one anymore. What girl would let her boyfriend go on a dating show?! Insane! So, I know he said somewhere amongst his drunken limo ride home that "he was the first bachelor to make it it to fourth place with a girlfriend." Was this a bad case of drunk dialing, without the dialing? Or the drunken truth?

Please let your voice be heard. Comments are now open.

A FUTURE IN HEAVY WEIGHT BOXING?

I swear, if I have to send Thing 2 to her room one more time for biting Thing 1's ear, I'm going to have to start calling her Tyson and him Evander.
She has done it three times already. I need a vacation.

MY NEW TIME WASTER

Okay, well, If you are wondering why I've been such a crappy blogger as of late, it's because of this little item above. That's right friends, I've got myself a new toy, and I've been loving every minute of it.

Well, while we were on vacation we lost our camera. Which I am completely bummed about because we had some really great pics on there. So, since we needed a new camera, I've been researching them, and even bought one and hated it. The pictures just weren't very good, and so I was going to have to spend a couple hundred dollars on one that could take great ones.

Then one day while we were at the pool, I asked my friend Kristin, if her iphone took good pictures. And she showed me a few, and it did. We started talking about her phone, and if she liked it, and all the crazy cool things it could do. She told me that they had the new ones on sale right now, and I decided I would look into it.

I found out I only had 30 days left on my current cell phone plan, so I went ahead at got the iphone. I went with the 3GS since it came with a little bit nicer camera and video as well. I am really enjoying this purchase because of all the neat things it can do.

So, I thought for those of you with iphones or itouches, I would go ahead and list my favorite apps that have been sucking my time away and maybe possibly you would share your favs with me.

Okey dokey.

  • First off, I really do love that I have my camera and camcorder built in to my phone. I was always forgetting my camera everywhere I went, and my old cell phone took really crappy pictures. You could tell they were from a cell phone. These ones not so much.
  • The other thing I am finding that I really enjoy about this phone is the built-in calendar. Now, I know my old phone probably had one too, but I am just now, for the first time beginning to see the brilliance it in. No need to carry around my little pocket calendar. Awesome.
  • I love the note pad on there, that I can just jot down a quick blog idea, or my grocery list.
  • It is great to have my ipod in there too, since I've been rocking the ipod mini forever, which incidentally isn't really so "mini" compared to the other ipods out there.
  • The built-in compass is pretty cool. Especially for someone who used to believe that north was always in front of you. ;)

Now for my favorite apps.

  1. google. Love that I can google random things anywhere. This is great for proving my point. Say we are out, and we are arguing about a technicality, google will always have my back.
  2. Accuweather. Love that I can get hourly updates on the weather, as well as a 15 day forcast.
  3. New York Times. Love that I can catch up on the news via my phone.
  4. Huffington Post. Love this blog.
  5. Facebook. Fun time sucker.
  6. Scriptures. Yes, I put scriptures before facebook. No more lugging the books around.
  7. Hymns. I do have them on here, but no I don't sing. Ever. But I can lipsynch the hymns like a champ. If you heard me sing, you just might say a prayer of thanks that I do lipsynch.
  8. Pandora. Awesome little station. Put in a song you like, it will play songs it thinks you will like cause you like that other one. Bad explanation. Good application.
  9. Espn. This is on here, cause I love hubs. Can find the score to any Sox game at the touch of a button.
  10. Around Me. Will find any restaurant or store or gas station around you. Uses the gps in my phone. Love this.
  11. Urban spoon. Want to find the nearest Sushi? Just punch in sushi and there you go. Kinda like Around me.
  12. Fandango. Like this one for being able to check what movies are playing where.
  13. Wells Fargo.
  14. Check please. Will tabulate the tip on any amount plus split the check into however many ways necessary. Totally silly, but still fun.
  15. Polarize Me. One of my favorite apps. Turns your regular photos into Polaroids. Too fun.
  16. My Wireless att. Lets you check how many minutes you've burned through, or text messages.
  17. Run K Pro. This one is probably one of my most used. So, the other day I couldn't find my gps watch I usually run with, so Hubs said, I bet they have an app for that. And sure enough. It cost me ten bucks, but it is awesome. So I just have to carry my phone while I run, which I do anyway cause of my ipod, and it will tell me how fast I'm running, my distance, and how long it's been. It also has all sorts of other sports on there, like cycling, cross country skiing, rollerblading. SA weet. And at the end, it will pull up a little map, so I can see where I went. Too cool. If you are a runner, I highly recommend this app.

  18. Shazam. So awesome. Watching tv and a commercial comes on, and you want to know the name of the song? Just hold your phone up to the speaker, and it will tell you the title and artist. Loves it.

  19. restraunts. This app is awesome. Will tell you the nutritional information from pretty much any chain restaurant.
  20. i handy level. Phone becomes an instant level.
  21. youtube.
  22. blocked. Fun little game. Thanks for the tip Aim.
  23. Pac Man. Keeps the kids thoroughly entertained.
  24. Scramble. Makes me feel like an idiot. I hate this. Hubs loves it.
  25. bublewrap. Again, kid fav.
  26. Lightsaber. Thing 1 thinks this is the coolest ever. Phone turns into a light saber. Makes the cool sounds and everything.
  27. Paper Toss. I suck at this.
  28. Ice Age 3D. Thing 1 loves the skate ramp.
  29. Wild West. My game of choice. Pin ball machine.
  30. Sprout Dress Chica. My kids love to play this in the car. Dress up the chicken. Laugh your head off.
  31. Adventure Preschool games. Colors, numbers, shapes, body, matching sounds. Thing 2 enjoys this.
  32. i coloring.
  33. doodle kids
  34. jirbo match. Thing 2's favorite app. Matching game.
  35. i write. Practice writing your letters.
  36. bus. The wheels on the bus. Kids love this one. But the song is annoying.
  37. mini piano. show off your skillz.
  38. scoops. Kid game, but I could play for hours. Catch the scoops on the cone, avoid the veggies. Brilliant.
  39. email. Duh. How could I forget. Love being able to send and get e-mail while I'm at the pool.

And there you have it. My iphone post. Sorry I've been a crappy blogger. It's just so addicting. But never fear. I've got a little list of posts rockin' in my notes app, and I just signed up for mobile blogger so I can post from my new phone. Watch out.

THE PICS ARE UP

So, the awesome photographer put up some sample pics of the Eric & Danni's wedding on his website today and I posted them on the family blog if you are interested.

Here are a few sneak peeks.

If you don't have access to the family blog, but would like too, just shoot me an e-mail via my naptimenostalgia@hotmail.com with you e-mail and I will add you to the list.
Thanks!

LIVING IN UTAH

Remember THIS post on how to identify a convert?
Well, on Tuesday night I hosted a little Summer Salad enrichment in my backyard (holla to my HV peeps!). And guess what was the very first salad that showed up?
Yep. Green Jello Salad. It was all I could do not to laugh.
I love living in Utah.

TO MY DEAREST LOVING HUBS

Dear Hubs,

Okay, so my birthday. It's in October. A long way off I realize. However I just stumbled upon what could be only THE MOST FABULOUS BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER. And well, I'm hoping this little post-a-la-hint will do the trick.

So I have been loving Kathy Griffins stand up for quite sometime now. I love all her celebrity bashing. I think it's hilarious. As you know, I routinely laugh out loud in a somewhat annoying manner almost every time I see her on television. And, come on, admit it. You've giggled too. And wouldn't it be fun to giggle together to Kathy Griffin LIVE? Well now we can. Our chance is coming. November 21st to be exact. And I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday in November. Can you? And here is where you can purchase the tickets for my MOST FABULOUS BIRTHDAY GIFT EVER. Couldn't be easier, right?

Your loving wife,

Amy

And bloggers, if you happen to be a Kathy fan as well, feel free to join us. Trust me, she won't disappoint.

Gourmet Gifting

So, beginning sometime in March I started randomly receiving Gourmet magazine monthly in the mail. The first time I thought it was a fluke. Somehow they miss delivered or something. Looked on the mailing address and sure enough it was mine. Strange. Since I've never read or even seen this magazine I decided to open it up and see what it was all about. And it was fantastic. Well written articles about entertaining, traveling, and the latest in good food. It comes jam-packed with new and interesting ideas about cooking and tonz of easy-to-follow recipes. I devoured (pun intended) the issue and found myself curiously intrigued as to who would send me such a gift. Could it be Hubs sneaky way of "encouraging" me to cook dinner more often? Or maybe it was somebody who thought it might be a nice subtle way to send me some pointers on "good living" or way to spruce up my entertaining skills. I just wasn't sure. As I pondered on my good fortune I found myself anxiously awaiting the next issue and then the next.

I find it somewhat amusing that I waited so many months to find out who ordered this subscription. I kinda liked thinking that someone would care enough about me to order me a gift subscription to a magazine. Almost like a secret gift-giving admirer. But today, my curiosity got the best of me, and I went ahead and called Gourmet Magazine. I nervously dialed, and patiently answered all of the computerized questions until I could speak to a real living person and find out the identity of my Gourmet gifter. And the sender?

Well, I'd like to tell you some happy warm-hearted story about a thoughtful person, but instead I found that I received a free year long subscription when I ordered a Christmas gift for someone from the Napa Style catalogue. Not as whimsical an ending as I've been imagining all these months. Nevertheless, I think I will continue to enjoy my Gourmet Magazine just as much as I have been. I've tried a few new recipes, got some great advice about getting my children to eat better, and visited some amazing places via some beautiful, touching photographs. I love all things artsy. Photography, music, food and art are just a few ways my right brained self loves to be stimulated. But probably the best thing I've learned in my Gourmet adventure? That I just might start adding magazine subscriptions to my "great gifts for everyone" gift-giving repertoire. What a fun way to say "I love you" or "Happy Birthday" or "Merry Christmas". Giving someone a gift that keeps on giving. Every month that person is sure to think of you and be reminding of your love for them. Plus, isn't it just lovely to get something in the mail that isn't junk or a bill? So fun. Yep, I think this will be my new way to send love in '09. Keep your eyes peeled and your mailboxes open. Something fun just might be on it's way.

THE PICS ARE UP

So, I just wanted to let you all know that the "Wedding Extravaganza Jersey Shore Excursion of '09" pictures are up on the family blog for those of you who are interested. Here's just a little teaser. Hubs and me posing outside Mud City with Clammy.
The whole week was a blast. And the wedding was off the hook. I am so happy for them. Congrats Eric & Danni!

FINALLLY. . .

Proof!! He is mine. I did carry him!! Well, after a good five years, I've finally found a trait in my son that he most definitely got from me. Seriously, he looks exactly like Hubs. From his head to his toe. Exact replica. It's kinda cute actually. But some days I find myself wishing that he had something of mine. You know. Like maybe my ears, or my toes or something. And well, after five years I finally found it. The gene he got from me.

This kid LOVES a good accessory.

Hubs is so proud.

And I can't think of a better gene for him to have inherited. Cause, well, lets just face it. Accesories are great, give you a little juje. And everyone needs a little juje. Accessories make you smile, they always fit, and can be useful (like tell you the time). Three cheers for accessories!

Every day he goes through this whole routine putting on his "stuff".

Hearing aids.
Hat.
Sunglasses.
Wristband --sometimes two.
Watch.
Wristband on ankle (yeah. I don't get it either)
and last but most certainly not least. His backpack that he MUST carry around at all times. But not like a normal backpack. He must wear it like a messenger bag.

I so love this kid.

911

Okay, so I know you are probably tired of reading about this on my blog (and if your my family, hearing about it at Sunday dinner), but I'm convinced there is more to 911 then just planes. Go ahead, give a listen. And educated yourself. Steel melts at 2700 degrees F. Maximum temperature jet fuel burns at is 1500 degrees F. You do the math.

TUESDAY'S TIP POST OFFICE LOVE

Summer equals vacation. Right? Or Holiday if your from across the ocean. I've always loved that word. Holiday. Not the halloween and valentines holiday, but the vacation holiday. And I think I'm going to have to start annoying people by using this term instead of the word vacation from now on.

Them: "Why are you so tan?"
Me: "Oh, I just got back from holiday."

Just sounds fancier, right? Okay, so this post does have a point. And what's the worst part of going on holiday (besides the post-vacay mountain of laundry)? Finding, or remembering rather, to have someone pick up your mail, and water your lawn etc.

Well, I found this little website that will at least help with one of these nuances. That's right folks. Your local United States Postal Service. Once you get to the website, you just look to the right hand side of the screen where it has a pull down menu for receiving mail. Click on that. Then click on "put mail on hold". It will take you here. Then, just put in your zip code. Then name and address. Next you can choose the date for your mail to stopped being delivered and a day to resume the mail delivery. Then you can have the post office either deliver all the mail they held on the day you get back, or you can choose to pick it up at your nearest post office at your earliest convenience. Pretty handy right?

You can schedule the holds in advance, or say you've had a slight brain fart and forgot? Just log on from your vacation destination and hold the mail from there. Pretty fantastic if I do say so myself.

Happy Traveling Friends!

OH NO!

Everyone knows how pro-Obama I was during the election. And this? Well, I don't have words quite yet, but it concerns me. I'm just sayin'. Have a lookie and let me know what you think.

SUNSHINE LOVE

Okay, first off I just need to get something off my chest. Here goes:

I really, really, really sometimes wish I was one of those bloggers who could write short, funny, intriguing posts. Well, that's just not me. And as much as I wish, and hope it was, it's just not. My posts and my writing in general tends to be really wordy. And lengthy. And can seem somewhat like I'm just rambling. Which I guess, I just might be. And well, I'm sorry about that. I wish I could write differently, but I can't. I'm not sure if this is because I talk to two people about superheros and princesses all day, or if I just have a lot bottled up inside me, but either way, I realize it's kind of annoying. I'm working on it. But brace yourself friends, this is gonna be a long one.

This topic, is well, so close to my heart, I just don't even know where to begin. Music. I love it. And I need it daily. Music is such an amazing art form to me. The way people can put their thoughts and words to music has always intrigued me.

I didn't necessarily grow up in a very musical family per say, but there was always music in the home. I mean, my Dad plays the accordion, but I've only heard him play a few times. And my mom doesn't play any instrument, but she can sing nicely. I'm not sure if it's because she didn't really learn to play an instrument or what, but she insisted, or MADE us rather, learn to play the piano. Which, when I was a child, I absolutely HATED. All that darn practicing. Ugg. Couldn't my mother see I would much rather be outside playing kick the can, than counting notes and struggling through arrangements? And don't let me even get started on all the lying I did surrounding that darn piano. I mean, my mom must have known. Was it really possible that every time she went out I did my practising? I can remember fighting with my brothers about it. Who's turn it was to get to say they did their practicing while she was out. Just. So. Wrong. But I loathed it. All that stupid practicing! I finally quit when I was in junior high. I guess she figured since I could play most of the hymns then I was good.

Both my Mom and my Dad loved music and we always had it playing in our house, and in the car. I grew up on James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver and Anne Murray. With two older brothers though, I also grew up on Tupac, Run DMC, and pretty much all the 90's rap that was out there. My oldest brother was known for his extensive CD collection. One of the biggest at his high school. Unfortunately, my room was right above his, so I pretty much lived and breathed rap music. I think this must be why I kinda have this strange love for hip hop and rap, whereas most people I know hate it.

One of the things I just love about music is the way it can serve almost as a backdrop in your life. There are so many different songs that when I hear them, take me right back to a certain time in my life. Even sometimes a specific moment in time.

Take Thugs N' Harmony's wonderful little song Wake Up for instance. My brother Dave, I kid you not, set this CD as his alarm every single morning his entire senior year. Every morning I would wake up to that ridiculous song. "Wake up, Wake up, it's the first of the month." Ugg. I could shoot myself!!

Or how about Blind Melon's It's no rain? This takes me right back to my first real kiss ever. Good old Lee. He loved Blind Melon. And that song was super popular at the time. The summer after 7th grade. Gotta love it. Every time I hear it, I think of him.

Indio Girls? Immediately think of Lake Powell. We would jam to this the whole way down and the entire week we were there.

Or how about Smashing Pumpkin's 1979? One Friday night when I was in high school a bunch of my friends had rented out some rooms downtown at Little America. I don't remember much, if anything about that night, except for that Jeremy Lyman was there. And he had just bought this new car. And by new I mean, new to him. It was some 1970's boat, and he took me and a bunch of my friends on a ride. I have no idea who was there, i just remember sitting in the back seat, with all the windows in the car down, hair blowing in the wind, with the speakers blaring the Pumpkin's 1979. It was then that for some reason Jeremy went the wrong way down a one-way street. We were screaming our heads off at him, because of all the cars coming straight at us. I thought I was going to die. I'm laughing just remembering it. We were so scarred. And all the while Smashing Pumpkins was jamming in the background.

Take Dave Mathews Band. There are a few of their songs that just hold so much emotion for me. They are so dear to me, that I almost don't really even feel comfortable sharing which ones. But they will always mean Hubs to me. Too many lazy days spent sluffing over at his house on the water bed.

And Simon & Garfunkel's I am a rock? This will always mean family to me. It's been a long-standing joke in our family, that although I love music, I'm not so great at hearing the lyrics. And I don't really care. I just sing it like I hear it. So, all growing up when the song says, "I am a rock, I am an island." I thought it said, "I am a rock, I am an awe---some rock!" In fact, I still sing it that way if I hear it come on. Even at my wedding my brothers intentionally put this song on the mix and sang it wrong just for me.

So yeah, music. It really is the backdrop of my life. That's why today, after a specifically intense spinning class full of Lady Gaga and other ass pushing songs, it was a nice reprieve during the cool down to hear a song that I haven't heard in a really long time. And that I absolutely love. And represents and means so much for me. That song?

Here Comes The Sun by the Beatles.

Okay, I guess I need to say something really quick. For those of you who know me well, or are a regular reader know of my absolute LOVE and NEED for the sun. I have self-diagnosed SADD, and just crave the sun. I am that person that has every blind and window wide open. I always think it's funny when I drive down the street and everyone has their blinds and shades pulled in the day. I so just don't get that. In fact I would rather be awakened by the sun than anything else. This is why I love summer. Long days. The sun rises early and sets late. I honestly think there might be some sort of secret chemical in the sun that my body just needs. Like maybe vitamin D. I just need loads of it. And so, I must see it everyday or else I just get sad and depressed. It's very strange and weird, I know, but it's me.

Anyhoo, as I was listening to the wonderfullness that is the song "Here Comes the Sun", it made me think of all the other brilliant tunes out there devoted to the word sun. And well, I thought today, with the officially start of summer, that I might share some of those lovelies. I hope you are having a fabulous day. And that this warm weather is warming your soul like it is mine. It's like I slowly start to come alive as the sun makes it's debut each spring. I literally turn into a different person in the summer. I want to get out of the house. I want to go on walks, go to the pool, go up the canyon to roast mallows and dogs. I want to be out, basking in it's awesomeness. So, here's to you sun!! Welcome home. Welcome home.

Here Comes The Sun - Beatles

That leads me right into:

You are My Sunshine - When I was looking for a video to post with this song, I came upon this one. And I am such sucker for people proclaiming their love through video and music. Enjoy!

Next up: Len, If You Steal My Sunshine. Most of you are probably thinking to yourselves, Who?
Sure, they are a one-hit-wonder, and the video is horribly cheesy, but the song is as catchy as ever, and is in most of mix playlists. I mean, scooters? Really? The option to embed this song has been disabled, so you are gonna have to click here, to listen to it in all it's glory.

Fallen Sunshine by Matt Costa & Jack Johnson

Walking on Sunshine

Sun is Shining - Bob Marley

Sunshine On My Shoulder - John Denver

TUESDAY'S TIP: SUMMER FUN

Well, it's beginning to feel more and more like summer around here. What with the ridiculously hot days, school ending for Thing 1 this week, and swimming lessons starting up, it sure does feel like we are in the swing of things. There are a few things that signify summer to me. The warm summer evenings spent BBQ-ing, Bob's Brain Freezes at least weekly, swimming everyday and a few more that I thought I'd highlight. Check em out if you'd like.

First off:

Starting Monday June 22 and going through August 3 from 6-8 p.m. Red Butte Garden will be having performances, entertainment, crafts and activities. Rates are $24 for 2 adults and 4 kids, regular garden admission rates (if there is fewer of ya), or FREE for those with memberships.
  • June 22 - Salt Lake Scots (bagpipers). You know we will definitely be to this one. Just so hubs can say "Piper down" in his best Scottish accent.
  • June 29 - Bollywood Dance Club
  • July 6 - Ko Ngati Hiona - Maori music & Dance.
  • July 13 - Death Cab for Cutie is having a concert. Might be fun to just go and let the kids play and listen to the tunes for free.
  • July 20 - Kenshin - Taiko Drums, Japanese. Really excited for this one too.
  • July 27 - Eastern Arts - dance & music.
  • August 3 - Morning star - Native American dance and Music

I'm really excited for these, and am even more pleased with myself for getting the yearly membership. Can't think of a more fabulous way to spend family night then basking in some enriching music and dance.

Next:

This years farmers market starts June 13th and runs through October 17th. Open 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. We go quite frequently during the summer for fresh organic veggies, and since our kids are early risers, we get there when it opens. It's a lot less crowded which means easier parking and more elbow room.

And last but certainly not least:
Millcreek Movie Nights. The first one is coming up quickly.
  • June 5th Kung Fu Panda Canyon Rim Park. Movie starts at dusk. You know we will be rocking this one since this is my very favorite animated movie ever. Robin Hood is a close second, but KFP pulled ahead this past year.
  • June 12th Mama Mia Evergreen Park. Again, movie starts at dusk.

THE BRIGHT SPOT IN AN OTHERWISE CRAPPY DAY

Tonight I can't decide which is funnier. The season finale of SNL with host Will Ferrell, or Hubs trying to tivo through it. Not knowing if it's a real commercial or an SNL short. Nope, went to far, have to go back. Watching real commercials for way longer than necessary cause really, you never know, and watching him get frustrated about it.

Ahhhhh. Good times. Good times.

MY SO-CALLED LIFE

  • Okay, first off. There are no pictures to go with this post. I understand if you want to immediately go and hit next blog. I get it. They will probably have pics. I will not. If you decide to stay, don't comment about me not having pics. Just accept it.

  • Where was I? Oh yes, My so-called life. Remember that TV show back in the nineties? I loved it. It was only on the air for maybe like half a season, but what a season it was. Actually, to be honest, I don't remember a lot of it. Mostly just coveting Claire Dane's hair and Jared Leto. Not necessarily in that order. But really it was hard not to love Claire's teen angst when I was currently experiencing my own teen angst. I believe I was a sophomore. The only reason I remember this is that there was this girl in my class who loved the show so much that when she heard it was being cancelled she made up a petition to have people sign to save the show. At the time I didn't sign it, cause well, frankly I was a teenager and cared to much about what people thought of me. But I can also remember feeling a kinship with this girl. Someone else who loves the drama of television as much as me. I always have. And ever since reality tv and Tivo, honestly, it's gotten much worse. But this time of the year? The end of season finale time? My love for TV goes to a whole new level. Am I proud of this? No. It just is. Believe me, I've tried to go without TV. But I just can't. So sue me. I figure since I don't watch "live" tv anymore, I'm saving tons of time and since I only watch until after the kids are in bed, that it is sorta somehow justified. The only show I can watch live anymore is The Food Network. More specifically Paula Deen's Home Cooking. Just something about her southern drawl and massive use of heavy cream and butter that just soothes my soul. But alas, I digress. Let's get on to the goods.

  • Okey, dokey. Before I begin, I probably should warn you that I'm feeling a bit strange at the moment. Not sure if it's the fever I'm rockin' or the heavy cold meds, but yes, this post will be odd. Just go with it. Let's start with the Biggest Loser. Oh man what a show. I just love it. However I also love to watch it while eating sugary sweet tangy taffy. I just think the taffy makes the show better. I know it's wrong, and I kinda feel guilty when Bob comes on with his little tips about healthy eating. But that is what Tivo is for, right? So, it's no secret that I wanted TARA to win. Really bad. I even wore a "GO TARA" shirt the night of the finale (see I told you I was crazy). But my shirt magic didn't help. That whiny little butt face Helen had to win. Eww. Just saying her name makes me want to vomit. Who sends their fat kid home, so they can stay and get skinny. Boo to you Helen. Boo. Okay, moving along. How fantastic did Mike look? I know I've said before that he doesn't deserve to win, simply cause he kept saying he was going to, but I would like to now retract that statement. Ever since Kris opened my eyes to the fact that heck, this is the first time he's ever been skinny in his whole life and he deserves to be a little cocky, I've agreed. Great job Mike. But the shocker of the finale was definitely Jerry. Who is this guy? Comes to the ranch for one week, faints, goes home and looses like 147 pounds!!! That is insane. I thought it was funny how he kept pumping his fist in the air. And it looked like his dentures were going to fall out at any moment. Congrats Jerry.

  • Moving right along. . . LOST. Holy guacamole. My head is still spinning. Let's just take it from the top. Okay so the thing that eerks me the most is we've been hearing about this bloody Jacob for 4 seasons now. And he finally makes an entrance. And a very odd, verry creepy entrance at that. But don't get too attached friends, cause by the end, he is toast. Burnt toast. I did get the feeling though each time he visited one of our beloved losties he almost ushered them to the island. As if it was their destiny. Did you notice that he also touched or passed them each an item? Creepy! Glad to know that Hurley isn't crazy. He is still my fav. Kinda want to read O'Conner's book Everything That Rises Must Converge that Jacob was reading in the ep now. But wait on hold a minute, only the best thing ever also happened in the ep, Rose and Bernard are back!!! Yippy skippy! I'm so glad they are not lost. Just enjoying their little bungalow by the beach. Love how they said, that most people work all their lives for a little shack by the beach. And they have it. Very appropos Rose. Okay who was that guy in the beginning? Wearing all dark? While Jacob was wearing all white. This ep seemed a little "Narnia" influenced if you will.
Alot of religious mumbo-jumbo underlying this show. And just who in the sam-heck is inside of Locke? Smoke Monster? Ahhh, I must now go and take an advil. My head hurts.

  • Next Up? Greys Anatomy. can't say I really love this show. it's just eh for me. But I was kinda sad to see Isobel and George die, although I kinda saw it coming since I heard that they were both being let out of their contracts. This is all I have.

  • Just can't wait for the Survivor season finale tonight. I really hope JT wins. They were silly to vote off coach. He was the perfect person to take to the end. On a side note here. I really wish Hubs would try out for Survivor. He would totally win. He is wicked smart, seen every episode of Man Vs. Wild, and ain't too bad on the eyes. ;) His only problem I can foresee is the fact that he doesn't do well without food. Kinda turns into a grump. But then again, who doesn't? Next time you see Hubs, please encourage this. I think it would be fantastic to have him win a million dollars.

  • Okay, well I think that is about it for this novel tonight. I am sure there are other shows to blog about, but since I feel like I got run over by a truck I think I will go relax. Oh, and p.s. who gets two flat tires in one day? I did break a mirror last week, and I'm starting to worry that my seven years has decided to start today. I hope to high heaven that your Sabbath is going better than mine. Cheers!

CONFESSIONS OF A FOUR AND A HALF YEAR OLD

Yesterday as we were getting ready for Grandma's graduation and dressing up in our Sunday Best Thing 1 says to me: "Mom, is tomorrow Sunday?

Me: You betcha!

Him: Mom, I have something to tell you. I don't really like Sundays the day very much. I like Sundae's the ice cream a lot better.

Amen brother. Amen.

ART FAIR

So, my very favorite little girls clothing line, Matilda Jane, is having their "Art Fair" clothing sale this weekend and I thought I'd share this little fabulous secret with you, cause frankly you rock. Very rarely does Matilda Jane ever sell their clothes online. Usually you have to buy it at a trunk show. But this weekend (today, tomorrow and till 11 pm EST on Sunday ) you can purchase till your hearts delight. Since it is Art Fair, all sales are final. Be warned, it is the cutest clothing you will ever find for little girls. But the sizes do run a bit big. They do have a bit of boy clothing under the heading "Mighty Acorns". And of course, a few bits and pieces for us ladies.

They will be adding more stuff throughout the weekend, so be sure to check back. I was reading the owners blog today and she said they had 18GB of traffic in the first hour. Yeah, that doesn't mean anything to me either. But she said that they placed 1,100 orders in the first 35 minutes. Crazy right?! I think it's funny, cause most of Thing 2's closet is MJ, and I love it with a passion, but I didn't realize so many other people do as well. I guess since they so rarely sell stuff online, people buy it up in bulk, and then sell the clothing for almost twice as much on ebay. I'll have to remember that when she grows out of her MJ stuff. Yesterday when I was browsing the inventory they had so much stuff. Today after I got back from running errands, they had about a third of what they had this morning. Insane!!

Okay, well that is all for now. Hope you are all having a fabulous weekend!

CONGRATS!

Well, it's official. My Hubs is now a son of a preacher. My beautiful, smart mother-in-law just graduated with her Masters of Divinity. You know what that means. She's officially a preacher. And that makes Hubs, the son of a preacher. So in honor of her graduation, I thought I'd post this little vid. I think it is so groovy. Love the beehive, the vest, the spider lashes and sleeves for days.

Just listening puts me in a smooth late-sixties type of groove. Congrats Marijke! You've worked hard and we look forward to listening to you get your preach on!

Sing it Dusty!

TEN WORDS

Here are ten words that I hope you never have to wake up to. . .

Thing 1 to his sister: "Let's go show mom your new haircut I gave you!!"

Uh, what!?!

Um yeah. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not much of a morning person. But pretty much as soon as I heard those words I was very much awake. I jumped out of bed and went running to see the aftermath. All I could think was my brother is going to kill me. Thing 2 has to walk down the aisle as a flower girl in no less than a month.

So, I'm screaming like a mad woman running out to the kitchen. I think I scared the pants off of Thing 1. He just looked at me like I was slightly crazy (which I might have been).

Me (said very sternly): Where is your sister?

Him: Over there.

Me (again with the stern-ness): Did you cut her hair?

Him: Yes.

Me (blood pressure rising): Where are the scissors?

Him: Right here.

Me: Where?

Him: Right here on my hand. I used my finger scissors.

Holy Crap people. Talk about almost having a heart attack.

Then I preceded to hide all the scissors in the entire house just in case Thing 1 has any more urges to play barber shop.

MOTHERS DAY MIRACLE

Well, I hope you all had a fabulous Mother's Day. I sure did. It all started off very nicely with me being able to sleep in till almost 10:00 a.m. !!! I honestly didn't think it was possible. I heard Hubs get up with the kids around 6:30, smiled to myself cause I knew my stars had all aligned (late church, no plans, etc) and today was the day to sleep. And sleep I did. I honestly don't think I have slept that late in six years!!! I was hoping for about 8 or 9 if I got lucky. And it felt absolutely fantastic to sleep till 10. And honestly I could have kept right on sleeping until noon, but when I cracked one eye open to check the time and saw that it was 9:50, and we were due to be somewhere at 10, I decided to roll out of bed. And the best thing was, Hubs knew we had to be there at ten, but he still just let me sleep, knowing we'd be late. I'm sure he knew I would have given him the death stare if he'd have waken me before I was ready, but also I'm sure he did it out of the kindness of his mother-loving heart. Thanks Hubs!

Then, I meandered slowly downstairs where Hubs was keeping the children hostage so I could sleep and was immediately trampled with hugs and a huge screaming Thing 2. Course she was screaming "Happy Birthday Mommy!" Close. Well, it's all the same in her book I suppose. Then we went upstairs to open only the most fabulous, thoughtful gift ever.

If you know me in real-life you would know that I come up with a million-dollar idea at least on a weekly basis. Honestly. Ask my family. Some of my ideas are just eh. But some, some are money-makers. Like the double-stuffed Oreo. Yeah, that was my idea first. Way before it came out. Told you I was a money-maker. Anyhoo, this latest idea Mar & I have brewin' is sure to be a hit and we've been working really hard on getting our proto-type made and perfected. The only problem with starting a new business is actually doing all the legal government mumbo jumbo. And that is just the part I hate. So, what did my fabulous Hubs do? He went out and started a L.L.C. for me. Complete with a tax ID so I can get my wholesale license and start buying crap for cheap. Seriously? Best gift ever right? I just love how thoughtful he is.

Then we got everyone showered, went to my MIL's house for a little breakfast (which was extra-delish) then headed out to church. (okay, a little side note here. Can I just say how much I love the late church? 1 p.m. rocks. Course I don't have a little one who naps through that time period anymore, so that's not a problem, which definitely helps.) Church was great because I was able to see Thing 1 sing, well, not really sing, more like stand there and look cute while the other primary kids sang. He kept looking over at me and grinning. Cutest thing ever! Then in Sunday school I got to hold a 7 week-old baby. And it was just precious. And I was happy when it was time to give it back. And in RS, I didn't have to conduct, or teach or anything. So that was nice.

Then, after church we went to dinner out at my bro and sis-in-law's house. It was absolutely scrumptious. But the cookies my sis makes for desert? To. Die. For. Her chocolate chip cookies are honestly my favorite things ever. For my birthday that is all I'm asking for. Some of her cookies. Now there is a business I should start. Go Sally!

Then because we stayed a little later than we should have out at my bro's house, the kids were extra-exhausted. It was past bedtime for sure. And just as my cute Thing 1 was nodding off, he says, "Mom, I hope you had a happy Mother's day." And then he fell fast asleep. Really now, what more could a mother ask for?

A perfect day complete with sleep, thoughtful gifts, good food, a little worship, babies, chocolate chip cookies, and my own soundly-sleeping children. Thanks everyone who made my Mom's day the bomb. You rock.

IF I HAD A MILLION DOLLARS. . .

You know the catchy little tune by the Bare Naked Ladies? (One of the best concerts I've ever been too by the way) Well, If I had a million dollars this is what I would request for mothers day.

I mean, just look at it. It is a Genuine Stella scooter. Isn't she purdy? I quite like the blue, or. . .

the avocado green. Either would do. But I have to say I appreciate the white walls that come on the avocado color. But one thing is for certain. I wouldn't be able to just get the Stella alone. Heck no. I would also request the side car as well. See below.
I mean, really, a million dollars. We could splurge on the side car. It is the perfect mothers day gift. Take just the scooter out on your own, and have a little alone time. Or, hook up the sidecar bad boy, helmet up the kiddos, stop for a sugary delight (a.k.a. Slurpee) and head to the park. What could be better?
Oh man. If I had a million dollars.
If you had a million what would you request this mothers day?

P. S. No pressure Hubs, no pressure. The number two item on my mothers day dream list is something that doesn't require even a penny. That would be me sleeping in until like 8 or 9 or 10. Well, really, I'm pretty sure I can't sleep past 8, but it sure will be fun to try. Oh, and if any of you suckers call my house Sunday morning, so help me. . .
Happy Mothers Day Y'all!!!
