THE GIVING TREE

Okay, well, I know Halloween hasn't even come and gone yet and I'm already doing a Thanksgiving post. But I have a good reason. Promise.
So, I found these cute little trees and leaves printables over at Living Locurto via Chocolate On My Cranium. I thought it was such a great idea, that I decided I would print one out for each of my kids, cut and laminate them so they would be ready for November 1st. That's just two days away friends. So don't dawdle.
So, here is the deal:
01.Download the free printable HERE. One for each child/person. Tip: download on card stock for extra durability.
02. Print out a couple of pages of leaves for each person.
03. Starting on November 1st, cut out one leaf, and write something you are thankful for. Glue the leaf to the tree.
04. Cut out another leaf and write something you did to help or give service to someone else that day. It can be as simple as a smile, singing a song to make someone feel better, or writing a letter to Grandma. Glue this leaf to the giving tree.
05. Do this each day leading up to Thanksgiving. By Thanksgiving your trees will be full of leaves! On Thanksgiving read what everyone is thankful for and what they did to give to others.
I thought this would be a great Family Night Activity (Nov. 2), and a great way to extend Thanksgiving throughout the whole month of November.

CARD TABLE RE-DO

So, I saw this little re-design over at younghouselove, and I just am completely enamored. I mean, how cute is this do-over? I just want to say, that I would totally do this if a) I had the energy, and b) I had a card table. Luckily I have neither, and can just enjoy the awesome creativity of others. Go them!

Just look at that hideous card table. Boring and blah. And then. . .
tada! Amazing what a little spray paint and oil cloth can do for ya. Just imagine how a little bunco around this baby would liven things up a bit.

Some people are so darn nifty.
Actually, come to think of it, I do have a few chairs like this, and it might be a fun little makeover for fall. If I happen to find the energy, and actually re-do the chairs, I'll be sure to post some pictures. But, don't hold your breath people. I kind of suck at follow-through.
Happy Thursday Everyone!

TUESDAY'S TIP: GOOGLE READER NEXT, GOOD LIKE VELCRO

So, about a month ago, i read this little post on my good friend Aimee's blog. And i thought nothing of it, for a few weeks since i was on vacation. Put it on my to do list, and off i went. Well, thanks to a little bout of swine flu, (yes, swine flu!) i had some time on my hands last week what with being stuck at home for seven full days (that my friends, is another post entirely) and all, that i decided to follow her post over to Sherbert Blossom and rig up my google reader.

And friends, let me tell you what. This little diddly is life-changing. Like kinda the same way that Velcro must have changed all the peoples lives before Velcro. I mean, can you imagine your life without Velcro?

Well, Sherbert Blossom did a tutorial for all you bloggers out there that like to read your blogs in google reader. But the thing we all despise about google reader, is a) you definitely don't comment as much cause you have to actually link in to do so. Which is a whole nother step, and just ugh. Too. Much. Time. And b) as convenient as google reader is for having all my blogs in one place alerting me when they've updated, it's well, very blah. Just not the same as clicking to each one of the blogs I read separately.

So, do yourself a favor. Go here, or here, and get yoself google reader next-ified. I am telling you, it has changed my life. In a VERY good way. Kinda like velcro.
