I NEED HELP

Now that I wrote that title, I realize that it is pretty vague, and all encompassing. Yes, it is true. I need help with many things. For instance today I've already changed 4 poopy diapers and it's only noon (maybe Thing 2 should lay off of the fruit snacks. Ya think?) But this is not what I need help with.

You should know that it's not easy for me to ask for help. In fact my inner therapist tells me that I should don a neck sign that says "I need help," just so I'll actually ask. Or rather, other's will ask me what I need help with. Because you see, my first instinct is to think I can do everything alone, by myself, and frankly, better than you.

But this is not true. And in this instance I really do need help, and lots of it.

Now, you are probably wondering what in the heck asking for help has to do with Sir Mix A Lot. Well let me explain. You see this morning I was catching up on a little blog reading when I came across my friend Kristin's blog post where she gives little shout out to maybe, just maybe the greatest movie ever, Empire Records. And that got me thinking about my other favorite movies, which got me thinking about High Fidelity. Which got me thinking about top fives. And musically speaking top fives. And then that got me thinking about this mornings workout and how I am in dire need of some new workout tunes.

And that's why I need help. Friends, my workout playlist is put simply, played out. I need some new fresh meat. Some songs that will motivate me and keep me plugging away on that darn treadmill, or even the oh-so-fabulous rowing machine.

Okay, so here is my current work-out playlist. Just so you know what I'm already shaking my booty too.

1. Starts off with a little JT. Sexyback if you will. This is the theme and reason that my ass is working out. I need my sexyback pronto. Actually not really sure if I ever had it, but anyways, you get the point.
2. Next it's Fergie Ferg's London Bridge.
3. Followed by a little Gold Digger by Kane and Jaime.
4. In Da Club by fidy
5. Business by Eminem. Can't workout without Em.
6. And then I bring it back. Way back. Rump Shaker Wrecks-N-Effecs.
7. Keeping with the butt theme, Baby Got Back Sir Mix A Lot
8. Whoomp There it is! Tag Team
9. (1,2,3,4) Sumpin' New Coolio. Loved this video, all the people getting outta the trunk. Classic.
10. Walk This Way Run DMC
11. Don't Laugh now. Gettin Jiggy With it Will Smith
12. Girls Aint Nothing But trouble DJ Jazzy Jeff
13. Keep Ya head up 2 pac
14. Fighter Christina Aguilera
15. Can't Hold Us Down Christina again. Sing it sister!
16. Bust A Move Young M.C. And I try to.
17. Miami Will Smith. I seem to have a thing for nineties hip/hop rap.
18. Umbrella Rhianna Love her new hair BTW.
19. Eye of the Tiger Rocky IV
20. Piece of Me Britney Only good thing outta Brit last year.
21. Cool it down with Set A Drift On Memory Bliss PM Dawn
22. Tennessee Arrested Development
23. Summertime DJ Jazzy Jeff

And as fab-0 as this mix is, it's honestly getting a little old. I need some new flavor. So please, let me know your best playlist for working out. Or just your top 5 would be helpful. And every time one of your songs comes one I'll think of you. And that will be fun. At least funner than working out normally is.

And don't be embarrassed. Heck, I've got Rumpshaker. Now that's embarrassing.

amy, i love working out to the Whitney Houston CD - I don't know the name - but it is a double disc and on one of the disc all the songs are made for dancing/clubbing. It always puts a smile of my face.

Old school Britney makes working out fun too. I know, embarrassing! But you asked for it.

Maybe I will make you a CD and send it your way. Email me your address.

I hate the music work out slumps.

I'm so glad you asked for help. One of my resolutions is to serve others more this year, so this is my first opportunity to make good on that resolution. I'm glad I can be of service.:)

OK, so I need to preface this with the fact that I (regrettably) haven't worked out since before I was pregnant, which is pushing about 2 years now. This post has motivated me to start working out again just so I can listen to the embarassing mix of old rap/pop that I rarely get to hear anymore. I was happy to know that I'm not the only one with Gold digger and Gettin Jiggy wit it on my ipod. So, I dusted off my ipod and went to my workout playlist, and here's what I got: (remember, you said you wouldn't judge!)

You shook me all night long (ACDC)
Blister in the Sun (Violent Femmes or Indigo Girls)
Dancing Queen (ABBA)
Ghetto Superstar (Ol Dirty Bastard)
Girls just want to have fun (Cyndi Lauper)
I'm just a girl (No doubt)
I think we're alone now (Tiffany) (The running just as fast as we can part gets me going)
Survivor (Destiny Child)
Ready to Run (Dixie Chicks)
Supermodel (?)
Express Yourself (Madonna)
Thriller (MJ)
Beat It (MJ)
Bootylicious (Destiny's Child)

Woop, there it is. I think those are the highlights. I know it's all old stuff, but I am getting old after all, so I guess it's fitting.

When you get your new list, send it to me so I can copy it. Then maybe I just might start working out again.

Get down girl, go 'head, get down.

Love it Ash!

How can I not have MJ on my playlist? And Ghetto Superstar by ODB? Brills, Ash, Brills.

When I get my body of the year award this year, I will be sure to thank you in my speech.
